Dr. Beltz is a Professor of Psychology and a Research Professor in the Population, Neurodevelopment and Genetics Program within the Survey Research Center at the Institute for Social Research. As a quantitative developmentalist, she studies gonadal hormone links to brain function and behavior across the lifespan by using multimodal, intensive longitudinal study designs and person-specific statistical analyses to reveal when individuals are (and are not) well-represented by averages. Much of her work concerns links between androgens (e.g., testosterone) and ovarian hormones at key developmental periods, such as puberty and the reproductive years, on sex-related behaviors, including aspects of cognition and psychopathology.
